Girls Recreational Program
Young Beginner Girls
This class is for young girls, grades Kindergarten-1st, wishing to increase flexibility, coordination, balance and strength. Basic skills are taught on floor such as handstands, cartwheels, forward rolls, backward rolls, and the first steps to roundoffs and backbends. On beam they learn balance when learning walks, jumps, balance skills, mounts, and dismounts. Bars improve upper body strength when they rotate through bar stations learning pull overs, leg cuts, back hip circles, and undershoots. Vault improves coordination by learning to run and jump on the springboard and landing with two feet, once learning this they can move on to forward rolls and handstand fall flats onto the mats. Gymnasts will also learn basic trampoline skills, as well as build strength when climbing the rope.
Beginner Girls
2nd-5th Grade | 50 Minute Class
This class is for girls, grades 2nd-5th, wishing to increase flexibility, coordination, balance and strength. Basic skills are taught on floor such as handstands, cartwheels, forward rolls, backward rolls, and the first steps to roundoffs and backbends. On beam they learn balance when learning walks, jumps, balance skills, mounts, and dismounts. Bars improve upper body strength when they rotate through bar stations learning pull overs, leg cuts, back hip circles, and undershoots. Vault improves coordination by learning to run and jump on the springboard and landing with two feet, once learning this they can move on to forward rolls and handstand fall flats onto the mats. Girls Class
Determined by Skill Level | 50 Minute Class
The following skills are required to register for this class:
- Good Cartwheel
- Handstand
- Strong Bridge
- Backward Roll
- Comfortable on the high beam
If your gymnast is currently unable to do these skills, they need to register for our Beginner Girls class instead.
This class is for anyone wishing to build on the skills mastered in our beginner classes and increase their flexibility, coordination, balance and strength. Skills are taught on floor such as handstand forward rolls, various types of cartwheels, roundoffs, backward rolls with straight arms, backbends, and bridge kick overs. On beam they learn balance when learning walks, turns, additional jumps, balance skills, handstands, mounts, and more advanced dismounts. Bars improve upper body strength when they rotate through bar stations learning pull overs, leg cuts, stride circles, back hip circles, and undershoots. Vault improves coordination by learning to run and jump up on the springboard, doing forward rolls and handstand fall flats onto the mats. Gymnasts will learn basic trampoline skills and start learning more advanced tumbling on a safer surface, as well as building strength when climbing the rope.
Intermediate Girls
Determined by Skill Level | 50 Minute Class
The following skills are required to register for this class
- Backbend with kickover
- Good leg splits
- Running roundoff
- Leaps
- High beam handstand
- Pullover on bars
If your gymnast is currently unable to do these skills, they need to register for either our Beginner Girls class or Girls Class instead, based on their required skills.
This class is more advanced. It is for gymnasts who want to continue learning harder skills. Skills are taught on floor such as front and back walkovers, powerful round offs, various leaps, turns, and beginning to learn back and front handsprings. On beam gymnasts learn more advanced jumps, balance skills, mounts and dismounts, in addition to learning strong handstands, forward rolls, and cartwheels. On bars they learn shoot throughs, stride circles, back hip circles, and sole circles. On vault running handstand fall flats and front handsprings are worked on. Gymnasts will work on trampoline to learn more advanced tumbling and jumps on a safer surface, as well as build strength when climbing the rope.
Advanced Girls
50 min
in this class want to continue learning more advanced skills but do not want to compete. Skills are taught on floor such as round off back handsprings, leaps, turns, front handsprings, fly springs, back flips, and aerials. On beam gymnasts learn more advanced jumps, balance skills, mounts and dismounts off the end of the beam, in addition gymnasts learn forwards and backwards rolls, cartwheels, and back walkovers. On bars they learn shoot throughs, stride circles, squat ons, front hip circles, and sole circles. On vault gymnasts go over the vault table learning to front handspring over it. On trampoline gymnasts will learn their more advanced tumbling skills on a safer surface, as well as build strength when climbing the rope.
