Girls & Boys Recreational Programs for ages 4½-6

Hot Shots

Boys & Girls 4 ½ – 5 ½ years old – 50 min. (One year of preschool experience required)

This class is introducing gymnasts from the preschool building to the main gym!  This class is very similar to the young beginner class except they are younger and have that preschool gymnastics experience.  

Young Beginners

Boys & Girls 5-6 years old – 50 min. 

Gymnasts are introduced to the four gymnastics events; bars, beam, floor, and vault.   Basic skills are taught; such as handstands, forwards and backwards rolls, and cartwheels.  On bars they would work on; pull overs, casts, and a variety of hangs.  Students learn balances and walks on Beam.  On vault they learn to jump on a springboard with both feet, land on their feet and forward roll.  Coordination, flexibility, strength, balance, team work and fun in the gym are emphasized in this class. Additional trampoline skills are introduced at this level, as well as building strength climbing the rope!

Young Beginners Plus

Boys and Girls 5-6 years old – 50 min.  (4 year olds required to have at least one year of preschool gymnastics)

This is an accelerated Young Beginners class. Children will build from previous skills and begin working on new skills.  Preffered one year of Young Beginner experience

Girls Recreational Programs for ages 6-18

Beginner Girls

Girls 6-11 years old – 50 min.  

This class is for anyone wishing to increase flexibility, coordination, balance and strength.  Basic skills are taught on floor such as handstands, cartwheels, forward rolls, backward rolls, and the first steps to roundoffs and backbends.  On beam they learn balance when learning walks, jumps, balance skills, mounts, and dismounts.  Bars improve upper body strength when they rotate through bar stations learning pull overs, leg cuts, back hip circles, and undershoots.  Vault improves coordination by learning to run and jump on the springboard and landing with two feet, once learning this they can move on to forward rolls and handstand fall flats onto the mats.  Gymnasts will also learn basic trampoline skills, as well as build strength when climbing the rope.  

Girls Class

Girls 6-12 years old – 50 min.

This class is for anyone wishing to increase flexibility, coordination, balance and strength.  Skills are taught on floor such as handstands, handstand forward rolls, cartwheels, roundoffs, backward rolls with straight arms, backbends, and bridge kick overs.  On beam they learn balance when learning walks, jumps, balance skills, handstands, mounts, and more advanced dismounts.  Bars improve upper body strength when they rotate through bar stations learning pull overs, leg cuts, stride circles, back hip circles, and undershoots.  Vault improves coordination by learning to run and jump on the springboard doing forward rolls and handstand fall flats onto the mats.  Gymnasts will learn basic trampoline skills and start learning more advanced tumbling on a safer surface, as well as building strength when climbing the rope.  

Intermediate Girls

Girls 7-16 years old  – 50 min. 

This class is more advanced. Skills are taught on floor such as front and back walkovers, round offs, leaps, turns, and beginning to learn back and front handsprings.  On beam gymnasts learn more advanced jumps, balance skills, mounts and dismounts, in addition to learning handstands, forward rolls, and cartwheels.  On bars they learn shoot throughs, stride circles, back hip circles, and soul circles.  On vault handstand fall flats and front handsprings are worked on.  Gymnasts will learn more advanced tumbling on a safer surface, as well as build strength when climbing the rope.  

Advanced Girls

Girls 7-18 years old  – 50 min. 

This class is even more advanced. Skills are taught on floor such as front and back walkovers, round offs, leaps, turns, back and front handsprings, and aerials.  On beam gymnasts learn more advanced jumps, balance skills, mounts and dismounts off the end of the beam, in addition gymnasts learn forwards and backwards rolls, cartwheels, and back walkovers.  On bars they learn shoot throughs, stride circles, squat ons, front hip circles, and soul circles.  On vault gymnasts go over the vault table learning to front handspring over it.  On trampoline gymnasts will learn more advanced tumbling on a safer surface, as well as build strength when climbing the rope.   

Boys Recreational Programs for ages 6-18

Young Boys

Boys 4 years old with 1 year of preschool experience – 50 min.

This class is for boys wishing to increase coordination, balance, and strength.  Basic skills are taught on floor, such as handstands, cartwheels, forwards and backwards rolls, and bridge ups. They work on basic skills on rings, parallel bars, vault, bars, pommel horse, and various conditioning.

Beginner Boys

Boys 5-6 years old – 50 min.

This class is for boys wishing to increase coordination, balance, and strength.  Basic skills are taught on floor, such as handstands, cartwheels, forwards and backwards rolls, and bridge ups. They work on basic skills on rings, parallel bars, vault, bars, pommel horse, and various conditioning.

Boys Class

Boys 7-12 years old – 1 hr.

This class is for boys wishing to increase coordination, balance and strength.  On floor gymnasts are taught skills such as handstands, cartwheels, round-offs, backwards rolls, backbends, bridge kick overs, and front handsprings. They work skills on the rings, parallel bars, vault, bars, pommel horse, and various conditioning and flexibility moves. 

Intermediate Boys

(Experience and Recommendation Required) 90min

This class is for boys wanting to do team in the future and continue working on more advanced  skills on all six events. Floor- Roundoffs and working towards a Back Handsprings. Intermediate Bars, Rings, pommel horse, Vault and Trampoline  Skills will also be added. Conditioning, flexibility and strength will be stressed. 

Advanced Boys

(Experience and Recommendation Required) 90min

This class is for boys wanting to do team in the future and continue working on more advanced  skills on all six events. Floor- Roundoff-Back Handsprings and BackFlips & Front flips. Advanced Bars, Rings, pommel horse, Vault and Trampoline  Skills will also be added. Conditioning, flexibility and strength will be stressed.
